G-B Grill in Alton

Stopped by this little diner on a whim & was superbly grateful that we did. The owner/cook and his son were friendly and inviting to start. The food was everything we hoped. We love to support small businesses and this one may top my list. When I come to Alton again, I will definitely go back.

Great GYRO! The nicest man running the place; gave my mother and I VIP treatment the whole time we were there- Even got a few pieces of candy when we paid the bill. Everyone I recommend this place to has loved it- Everything a diner should be!

It's cooked in front of you and fresh

Awesome little resturant. Blast from the past. Little tidbit...everyone takes their dishes to the clean, so we followed suit. So funny!!

Funky, old-style diner, friendly service, good, inexpensive food. Great for casual breakfast or lunch. Excellent gyros and daily specials.

Take the time to stop, have a coffee and a breakfast made by the owner. Yes, these places do still exist and they are always the best. Immaculately clean, fast service and fresh coffee after every sip. Heaven in Alton!

I really like this place. Old fashion feel to it. Fresh food, mom and pop shop. So many reason to love it. The vibrations the room has makes me feel at home. Plus it's a bargain. Feed you REAL good food, affordable. Well worth it!

G B Grill is an old style, blue plate diner. Established in 1910, it is still operated by the same family, and provides the kind of food and service you would expect from a 100 year family restaurant. Simple dishes, made well, and the best gyros in town.

Good food, great service, friendly environment... Only problem is they don't have biscuit & gravy w/o sausage. I do plan on returning.

I've been going down there since I was a little kid with my grandpa...im 50 now and feel at home eating a home cooked meal every time I stop in ... Love love this place couldn't find a nicer family ... IL be back soon....

A trip back in time. An authentic diner featuring authentic diner food at very moderate prices (they probably haven't changed their prices in 40 years.) This is the real thing.

Found this authentic, retro diner to be a true delight. Food was diner-comfort and the owner told us the history. Fabulous little find. This will definately be a brekkie go-to when we are in Alton IL.

Great little diner, a Jewel in the rough. Ham and cheese omelette was delicious. Definitely worth stopping in. Gonna be my weekend breakfast go to from now on. My son said the biscuits and gravy were really good too. Great job!!

Great. Family owned restaurant. Food and service are equally outstanding. You are encouraged to finish your meal. They don't want anyone to leave hungry.

It's not fancy. But sweet family own cafe. Enjoyed family photos and fifies feel.

I always went here with my grandpa joe for breakfast when I was younger . I haven’t been there in a while but it’s one of the best breakfast places I been too. I have so many memories here. We always went here when I stayed the night at his house.

Good food at good prices really enjoyed the atmosphere

First time customer today, absolutely delightful ❤ breakfast was perfect, handbreaded fried chicken with mashed potatoes 💯 (basically everything was cooked right in front of you). The family environment and the way they made you feel at home was beyond anything you will experience in the restaurant business. Please give this place a chance cause I guarantee you will be more then satisfied. This is the type of business we need more of.

Fantastic diner with a 70s vibe (60s even) where the food is rib sticking comfort and the service is like you are visiting family. I thoroughly enjoyed the regular customers' banter and interaction with the staff. When $9 is the most expensive meal, it is also good on your wallet. My wife was thrilled with the homemade dumplings and got a cheeseburger for later. Don't t forget a tasty piece of pie for dessert. The place is clean, bright, and very entertaining.

Friendly workers and great food

Best coffee, fresh roasted beans can't be beat. I drink it black and we roast our own beans so I could tell. Great food and ambience of old time diner. Greek couple own, cook and wait on you!! Great couple with fresh food cooked right behind the counter while you watch. MUST TRY IT!!
